MRIGlobal Delivers Trusted Testing, Chemical Libraries, and Independent Evaluation
On Wednesday, Dec. 15, the President of the United States signed an Executive Order designating fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. As part of its implementation, the Order directs relevant agencies “to support the full spectrum of counter-fentanyl operations.”
MRIGlobal has decades of experience working with fentanyl, opioids, and precursors in support of responders and field agents conducting counter-fentanyl operations. This expertise includes testing and evaluating portable detection devices, decontamination products, and attribution signatures, with a focus on fieldable equipment that enables comprehensive forensic analysis of any threat sample. At CBRNE Tech Index, experts provide independent, unbiased data on these chemical detection tools, helping agencies choose the appropriate equipment for use in detection of illicit fentanyl.
MRIGlobal has evaluated more than 100 detection and decontamination systems against chemical, biological, and pharmaceutical threats. The team has also analyzed more than 500,000 samples with forensics results for customers.
Established in 1943 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, MRIGlobal has been an industry leader in national security and defense, with more than 60 years of experience performing RDT&E programs with chemical agents, highly toxic materials, and pharmaceutical based agents.
With an extensive chemical library containing hundreds of thousands of compounds, MRIGlobal uses curated chemical libraries to test detection systems and accurately distinguish hazardous substances like fentanyl from innocuous materials in field-forward environments. Read more at Chemical Detection Libraries to Support Testing and Evaluation.
On the “Fentanyl” episode of the Science Diction podcast, MRIGlobal’s Evan Durnal discusses why fentanyl is so potent, the scale of the problem, and how we’re helping first responders do their job safely and effectively.
MRIGlobal has all the permits, certificates, and registrations necessary for the synthesis, possession, use and transfer of all chemical warfare agent classes, toxic industrial chemicals (TIC), drugs, illicit substances, biological select agents and toxins (BSAT) and all other classes of compounds that may require testing under this program. Our permits are from the Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Agency, and State of Missouri, and allow us to receive, store, ship, and analyze Schedule I-V regulated substances.
