Heather Leith

Heather Leith, JD, CAE, joined the MRIGlobal Board of Directors in 2024, bringing nonprofit legal and governance expertise to the Board. She also serves as general counsel and senior vice president of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), where she leads the organization’s legal and compliance operations and strategy and takes pride in collaborating with internal and external experts to advance the organization’s mission.

The AAFP, which she joined in 2013, is the national association of family doctors. It represents over 130,000 family physicians and medical students nationwide and seeks to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by advocating for the health of the public and by supporting its members in providing continuous and comprehensive health care to all.

Prior to joining the AAFP, Leith represented Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri, as assistant general counsel, served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kathryn H. Vratil of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, and worked as a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York.

Leith holds a B.A. with honors in English from Grinnell College and a J.D. degree from Yale Law School. Leith is a member of the bar in New York, Missouri, and Kansas.
